Your First Visit

During your child's first visit to our office, you can expect them to receive great dental care in a fun & friendly environment! A typical first visit includes a cleaning, application of a fluoride treatment, and a thorough dental exam completed by Dr. Turner. During this appointment, Dr. Turner will also determine if any dental x-rays are needed, which allow her to view the structure of the jaw, the position of any teeth that have not yet erupted, malformed roots, and tooth decay. Best of all, each visit ends with a stop at the treasure tower!

The initial visit also involves getting your child's medical history. When you share your child's medical history with the doctor, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on his/her health. Inform the doctor if your child has experienced recent hospitalization or surgery, or if they have recently been ill. Also tell the doctor the names, doses, and frequency of any medications your child is taking - whether prescription or over-the-counter products - and the name of your child's physician. Inform the doctor of any changes in your child's health or medications. This information will help the doctor to select the most safe and effective method of treatment for your child.

Consultation

Upon completion of your child's examination, Dr. Turner and her staff will discuss with you any treatment needs your child may have. They will also discuss any concerns or questions you may have about your child's dental health. Other important topics which may be addressed include your child's diet, brushing and flossing routine, finger/thumb habits, snacking habits, and fluoride intake.

Why should my child visit Dr. Turner's Office?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child first visits the dentist at age 1 or six months after the eruption of their first tooth. This serves as an opportunity to meet the doctor, learn how to best care for your child's teeth, and have a thorough exam. Visiting a pediatric dentist is the best way to ensure optimal oral health for your child!
